Writer's Block: Reading Aloud

One of the highlights of going to a literary festival is hearing authors read from their own works. What author, living or dead, would you most like to hear read?

Probably Terry Pratchett, but JK Rowling comes a very close second. Both their series' are fond favourites of mine, Pratchett's because of the hilarity and Rowling's because of the extra dimensions her character's seem to have - they are very real - and the plots of both series' are always imaginative and gripping.

Each author seems so charisimatic and interesting, and in interviews their voices are very alive and provokes imagination, especially Pratchett's (hence the reason he's first).

Also they're British, and although this may seem a stupid reason, there is motivation behind it. I in no way believe that British authors are better at writing than other authors, sometimes quite the contary, but I find a British accent easier to listen to and to follow, being English myself.

Other author's I would like to hear read are Kathy Reichs, Cornelia Funke, Anthony Horowitz and Eoin Colfer.

Are you prepared for a zombie outbreak, or are you just going to wing it?

View 500 Answers

Truthfully, I will reply no. I am assuming that my only other opinion would be to wing it.

But how do you prepare for a zombie outbreak. I mean come on, they could be nice zombies, you never know.

And what if they aren't nice?

Well, let's say they're flesh eating. You could shoot them I guess. I personally don't own a gun, but I have a lot of farmer friends who do - I could stay at theirs for a bit. Or you could maybe dangle meat in front of you, then throw it aside when they get to close and hope they go for that instead of you (less bones).

I shall have to ask my vegetarian friends if they would do this. Would they handle animal meat or let the flesh eating zombies eat them. I am hoping they would do the former because they are amazing friends and I really don't want them to go anywhere.

SO, am I prepared for a zombie attack? I believe the real question is - is anyone really prepared for the attack.

Nb. Don't worry, I am not clinically insane, of course I am prepared for a zombie attack.

I finally figured out how you work those cuts! Yeah!

And yes, that is all I wanted to say.

edit2 - stupid cut didn't work again!

edit3 - FINALLY!

So I fianlly figure out the cuts, and I have a link (cut) to my GeekFiction page (aka showing off my new skills). For someone who prides herself on being tech-savvy, this was embarrassing!

So, LiveJournal! I've been skirting around here for a few months now, mostly on GeekFiction, and have decided to take the plunge so I can enter the summer ficathon.

Basically, my name's Franki, and I live in (and love) Britain.
